This past weekend, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was unofficially kicked off with this year’s annual Top Hands competition. The Top Hands Horse Show invites riders of all ages and skill levels from therapeutic riding facilities from Houston and the surrounding areas to participate in this competitive horse show.
Riders from all over Texas, of all ages and abilities, came to show their skill. The morning was full of trail rides, with riders and their walkers introducing themselves and their horse to the judges. In the barn area, riders and horses were getting prepped for showtime: intricate braids, shiny outfits, pristine boots. The official opening ceremony had riders get cheered on as they lapped around the ring with their respective barn – and then, they were off! Houston Landing’s Lexi Parra photographed this unique horse show and tight-knit community of riders.
